This equipment, named "Hurricane-3000", was developed by China North Industries Group Corporation Limited. It can intercept small and light drones and drone swarms at a distance of more than 3,000 meters.

The system adopts a vehicle-mounted chassis design and made its public debut at the military parade held in Beijing last September. This week, relevant representatives of China North Industries Group explained its combat performance in detail to the outside world. According to Hong Kong's "South China Morning Post" citing Yu Jianjun, an expert from the company, "Hurricane-3000" has broken through the limitations of fixed target protection, can achieve regional air defense suppression, and perform diversified air defense operations such as border defense, coastal defense, and urban security.

"Hurricane-3000" can operate independently or form a network with multiple vehicles such as laser and artillery weapons to form an "iron triangle" for terminal anti-drone operations. Its operational process is as follows: first, the radar completes target detection, then the optoelectronic equipment achieves precise tracking and locking, and then high-power microwaves are emitted to damage the target.

Different from electronic jamming countermeasures, microwave weapons belong to the category of "hard kill" weapons and can directly cause physical damage to the electronic components of drones. The developer particularly emphasized the three major advantages of the system: extremely low cost per launch, almost unlimited "ammunition", and negligible collateral damage. Compared with laser weapons that counter targets one by one, microwave weapon systems have a large-scale coverage capability, so they have significant advantages when dealing with saturated attacks by drone swarms.

"Hurricane-3000", together with missile and laser anti-drone weapons, constitutes China's multi-level anti-drone air defense system.
